Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

7th & 8th : Casa Buena Semilla

  • What do we do?: Every day, there are around 55 kids who find refuge from the draw of the streets in Casa Buena Semilla. They are given food and a safe place to stay while they’re not in school and their parents are working. At ECA, we collect food and money to help with the cost of feeding the kids everyday. We are also pen-pals and prayer partners with the kids. When we visit them, we play games and teach them songs and stories from the Bible. When we go, parents are invited along!
  • What ages of kids?: There are kids from 5 to 13 years old
  • What does the ministry need?: Every day, it takes 8 lbs of rice to feed all the kids. They need about 30,000 a month per kid. ECA is a huge blessing! Last year, we gave over 40,000 a month!!!

Prayer Needs

  • For kids in abusive home situations
  • For better housing for the families
  • Health for all
  • For kids in drugs
  • For God’s love to continue in their lives
  • That God will continue to provide for them through Casa Buena Semilla, and continue to give strength to those who work with the kids

I’ve only being once to Barrio Egipto and I really think that it is really good that we help them. I would like to help them in any way I can. It was fun to go there with the worship team to play and be with them.

Even though they dont have a lot of money, they are very fun. They sure know how to have fun with a little ball and a piece of chalk. I like how they act, because sometimes we are like I dont have this, or I want this, bla bla bla, but they cant have it, they have other thing and are very thankful for it. This are sure some great kids, it was a very fun time that I spent there.

When i went to barrio Egypt we went there to serve them and to teach them about God and have fun with them. It was a good experience going there. I also felt bad because they were so poor yet very joy full and to see that we are all not thankful for the thing that we have.

I have only been once to Barrio Egipto and I really liked it. It is really fun to play with them and share things with them. I really got to know them and play with them. They all have some sad things to say and then you realize that you really need to be thankful for what you have.. I has been a great experience and i hope to see them again.

When I went to Barrio Egipto, I liked to play with the kids. One thing I really enjoyed was that we did dramas and everyone was laughing. I really like to serve, I like working in ministries, and I think that we bless many people. I like serving at Barrio Egipto.

Been in Barrio Egipto has really taught me a lesson, I learned to give value and give thanks to God for the things I have. I was so amazed on how they were anxious to know about God. They were also all so excited to learn English.

Barrio Egipto is a very nice place. There is a lot good kids. We had prayer, we sang, and learned about the bible. The kids were very nice. It was fun going to see kids grow in grace. It is sad to see so many poor kids, but happy to help them in their time of need. It was a very good experience to go there.

It was fun how the kids felt happy when we arrived, they welcomed us. It was cool how they were playing with us. You could notice how happy they were by looking at their faces. I liked when w did the all the activities with the kids at Barrio Egipto. I hope they get happy when they come to school and pass some time with us.

    This kids are incredible!!
Its been a great expirience to know how they live and how their life is. Their life is not that good. Most of them have passed difficult circunstances in their lifes…but they continue with their lives day to day. When we went to visit them they were really excited to learn about God. Even if they thought God wasn’t their when they had a bad moment. They were really thankful at the time we left Barrio Egipto.

They are very poor and need a lot of help with money and help spiritually. They need friends who love and care for them. I really want to go back to help the kids from Barrio Egipto!

When I went to Berrio Egipto I had a lot of fun and a had a great time. This helped me a lot, because I learned a lot of things. I think that when we go to Barrio Egipto is very special for the kids and I think they have a lot of fun too. Becasue they are poor I think they need a lot of help and love, which we can give to them, I think that we have to keep helping them.

The moment when I arrived to Barrio Egipto, I was nervous in the beginning but later, I felt comfortable and very happy. Although they were poor and had less than us, they were not different from us. It was a great time there and learned a lot of things about them. The experiences that I had will be never forgotten and it was very fun teaching them. We should never judge people of what they have or not have.

For me, Barrio Egipto has been a great growing experience, it helped me realize i cant take anything for granted.
It was great to see what those kids have to go through, because i got to realize everything that God has provided for me, and those simple things that are just plain normal to me are the opposite for them, and I should be more thankful for them. Thru ought my time in Colombia, ive been wanting to get closer and closer to God but there were several things missing, looking back to Barrio Egipto has definitely helped me grow with my relationship with God in being more thankful and going to him for everything and changing my selfish ways and just live every day to serve him. Iv’e only been to Casa Buena Semilla once, and there, i prayed for a girl to receive Christ in her heart, it was a magical experience.

My experience in social service was very good because I have come to realize many things I did not know, for example I have to thank God for all he has given me because not everyone gets to have it. On the other hand my experience with Barrio Egipto children was very interesting because they taught me that although one cannot have everything, life can be great. It also makes me appreciate everything I have and the idea to give to those who do not have much. My experience with pregnant women was also important because I was able to understand that taking care of my youth is essential, and even though life has many obstacles you can live it to the maximum. Those girls are very brave because they decided to have the baby instead of taking the easy way and abort. In conclusion this experience taught me to live life no matter what happens and to live it with God forever.

  21. David Velasquez on December 14th, 2009

I felt really good in knowing I helped many kids and gave them another opportunity to be happy. God has been working in their hearts so they could receive him in their hearts and feel his love and support in their lives and that makes me happy. =)

  22. Jocelyn on December 14th, 2009

my experience in barrio egipto was spectacular in some way. The kids are wonderful and sometimes they need some help and if a I can give them what they need, I will do it. The only things that they want is love(sometimes).

  23. Franchesca on December 14th, 2009

When they tell you about the neighborhood they live in you don’t want to go, but when you are there it is not as bad as you think. The children are shy and I have had a good time with them. On Friday they came and it was fun seeing them jump around except if you had to chase them around.

  24. Paula Ocaña on December 14th, 2009

The experience with Barrio Egipto kids was great. I love to see the kids smile and play and have fun with us. I never expect to receive anything back from them but the gave me the best present in the whole world and it was love. I wanted to cry when I saw how happy and thanks full they were with me and my class mates. I really like to help the kids from Barrio Egipto because you think that everyone have your same life but they don´t they have to pass through really hard thing and they are only kids. I don´t want them to loos their childhood. That is why I love to help them.

My experience with the kids of Barrio Egipto is great. I love every kid because are cute, thankful of everything. They dont want to have the same life as their parent and they try to study more and to be good persons. They want to know the Lord because of all the problems they had. Let pray for each child and for there family too.
