10th Grade : Forjadores de Aguilas

  • What do we do?: One Saturday a month, we go to play games, do crafts, worship with and tell Bible stories to the kids in the ministry. While we are with the kids, the teachers who are there every week are able to do house visits--praying and sharing the gospel with the parents. What ages of kids? We have 4 different classes. 3-5 year-olds, 6-8 year-olds, 9-13 year-olds and 13-17 year-olds. In total, there are 60-70 kids involved in the ministry.
  • How do we help the families?: Every Saturday afternoon, there is a class after lunch for the parents who want to learn more about the Bible and prayer. Already 3 mothers have been baptized, and are spreading the gospel to their neighbors. We also collect food and clothes to give to the families.
  • How can you help?: Come! Our ministry is open to students in 10th grade AND their parents. : ) Work! We are building a house for a crippled man, and we need all the spare hands we can get! Give! Every month, we will be doing a school-wide food or clothing drive. It only takes 4 lbs of rice to feed all the kids in the ministry for one day.

Prayer Needs

  • There are many families barely surviving, but who know the power of prayer.  Pray that God will continue to supply their needs!
  • Capi, a crippled man who works in our ministry needs healing in his legs.  He has a bone-degenerating disease that causes him a lot of pain.
  • For all the other kids in the area who aren’t a part of our ministry.  Pray that God would show them His love, and that He would increase our ministry to have more!

I love going to Ciudad Bolivar because we have so much fun with the kids and also we have a fun time as a class. Besides, it is comforting to see the kids faces light up with joy when they see us. :)

People up there are always telling us that we’re a blessing. But the way I see it, we’re the ones that are blessed. We’re blessed because we have a chance to meet new people, we’re blessed because we have an opportunity to broaden our horizons, we’re blessed because we have the chance to bless others.
I mean, that’s why we go there, not only to play with the kids, not only to hold them, not only to teach songs and dances, but we’re also there to love them.

It’s all for them…not getting service hours, but for their joy and their smiles.

    :)

It is a great experience to be involved in the Ciudad Bolivar ministry. They are a great blessing to my life and it is an opportunity to do God’s will. It is great to teach them about the Bible and to play game with them which I think make them happy.

It is great to always know that you will be handy whenever you have the opportunity to go there. Whether playing with the children, helping out in the kitchen, singing, or teaching “Sunday School.” I love it when they look at us with their huge smiling faces always present to greet us and to start the activities that lie ahead for the new day.

Going to Ciudad Bolivar is really fun. We teach some kids to read, play with them, and help out with whatever they need. The kids have a lot of fun and at the end they don´t want us to leave. The kids there are all really cool and although they sometimes get a little crazy and like tackling us, we have a lot of fun playing lots of games with them. It is really fun to serve at Ciudad Bolivar!!!!

After getting up early and getting on a bus for a 1 or 2 hour trip with your mood on the floor, most people wouldnt do much. But when you get to this ministry and see the childrens’ happiness when they see you, you can help but smile.

These kids have so much less than us, yet they still smile and come to the foundation ready to learn as much as possible, not complaining about their conditions. We are an example to these kids who many of them don´t have parents that have been examples.

It is a blessing to be able to work with those who are less fortunate than us. Being allowed
to work with these kids has showed me a lot. Personally, I have only been there once, but that time
I had with them was an amazing learning experience. They have so much to learn and many areas
to grow in, and I am excited to be a part of this learning experience with them. I am looking forward to going back and working with them.

I had fun, really! One can really enjoy the creativity of each one for example there was this one kid who made a mini bow and arrow just using part of a balloon and two lollipop sticks. It’s worth it to be in this ministry. Yes I know you have to get up early and take a trip of almost 2 hours but. Who cares you can spend time with kids and their happy faces.

I think that going to Ciudad Bolivar is a great opportunity to share about God with other people, especially with people like the kids we work with. Many of them have had very sad difficult lives, and still, they are joyful and thankful for things, that for us, are insignificant. I believe that each Saturday that we go to Ciudad Bolivar, we go with many ideas of things to teach them, but really, at the end of the day, when we look back over our time there, we realize that those kids were the ones who taught us; maybe not educational things, but things that are valuable for life.

Going to ciudad boliva was a really cool thing to do. We got to play with the little kids and were able and we eventually have made their days cool days. For those who haven’t gone I would encourage you to go.
