Praise and Prayer 2018

  • For the two student teachers currently at ECA. Hannah Slager came from Trinity Christian in IL and is working in 3rd grade with Miss Anderson, and Andy Flavin just flew down last week from Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in OH to work under Mr. Trussell in MS math. We praise the Lord for those He sends to work alongside us for short seasons, especially with the hope that they might decide to return as full-time teachers. Help them feel welcome!
  • For Celebrate Colombia! Last Friday we had a special time enjoying different morning activities with secondary students, who showed us how the slogan Herencia Latina has influenced our culture. In the afternoon, we watched our elementary students dance to selections from El Orgullo de mi Patria. All ECA was moving to the beat of Colombian culture!
  • For the great opportunity Parent/Teacher Conferences are to share perspectives and open communication channels between our teachers and parents. We were grateful for this chance to work together as we go into the last stretch of this school year.

  • Though we are thankful for another elementary teacher application that we received this past week, we still need multiple positions filled this upcoming school year. Pray with us that our recruiting team will wisely reach out to possible teachers and give them the appropriate information as they seek God’s direction about joining our team. Pray also that God will draw teachers for the following spots:

Elementary:       Pre-K, Kinder, 1st, 2nd

Middle School:  Bible, Math, Science, Language Arts/Social Studies

High School:     Bible, Math, Science

Also:                    Music, Learning Center, Elementary and Secondary Principals, Database Administrator/Webmaster

  • For our construction process to be able to continue to move forward. Pray for the needed funds and for diligence and quality work from each construction worker, and specifically for:
    • The classrooms on the 2nd floor of the new building to be ready by July 15
    • A positive answer from the Secretaría Distrital de Planeación regarding the redesign of the roads around the school lot
    • The resources to start the construction of the gym façade ($280 million pesos).
  • For our Holy Week mission trips April 11-17 when all of our secondary students will be serving one way or another. On Thu, Apr 11 our 5th/6th grade students will be hosting students from El Puente, and on Fri, Apr 12 7th/8th grade students will be hosting students from Hogar de Paz, both at ECA. From April 11-17, HS students will be serving in these eight different places throughout Colombia. • For our Missions Week April 22-26. This year’s theme is Transforming our World and we will hear from ECA alumni who are serving the Lord in missions around the world. Some of them will join us on campus. Others are sending videos sharing how the Lord called them into missions, the steps they took to become a missionary, and some remarkable or memorable moments they have had as missionaries. Pray that many of our students will be inspired to pray about their possible future as missionaries.
  • For Rocío Escobar (Spanish teacher) and her family after the death of her father-in-law, Luis Alejandro Burgos, on Friday.
  • One of our alumni anonymously asked for prayer:  “My sister has moved to Tampa, FL but they haven’t found a house and are staying in a camping area. My family and I are praying for them to get housing soon. Your prayers are precious to us. Thank you 🙏.”
