Praise and prayer

  • For another fun Alumni Brunch with 20 alumni and 8 staff celebrating relationships built over many years. Glenn Moyer, who will be retiring from ECA at the end of this school year, gave a challenging devotion to encourage ECA alumni to make a difference in their world, to not be afraid to innovate, and to step out. Glenn was a middle school teacher for almost all of those alumni so his intervention was very appropriate. Everyone enjoyed times of sharing, a “scavenger hunt” around the building, photos, and good food.

  • For some new faces and some new positions this semester at ECA.
    • Luz María Jiménez: receptionist
    • Jorge Amado: joined the development team to work on media and fundraising; partially covering Danniela Rodríguez’ maternity leave
    • Hans Kelly: sub and science lab assistant
    • Eric Robinson: returning after a semester away; will be teaching MS computers and graphic design, HS yearbook, and helping with design projects
    • Katie Zevallos: has been teaching HS science virtually but is now here in Bogotá. Katie is a former ECA teacher who has been serving underprivileged orphans in Turbaco, close to Cartagena, for the past several years. We are excited to have her back on our team for now.
    • Casey Bello: volunteered last semester at ECA and has now joined our team serving in 2nd grade, doing MS and HS electives, and helping sub.

  • For Jackson Hice who has agreed to join our team as a secondary Bible teacher next school year. Pray for Jackson as he finishes seminary and prepares to move to Colombia with his wife and two young children.
  • For the new Kelly family. Emily Camplejohn and Hans Kelly, both ECA staff, got married on January 1. Pray for a marriage full of blessings from the Lord and for their marriage to be a role model for our students.

  • The ECA foreign staff members who have still not been able to return to Colombia for health-related reasons.
  • For wisdom for school and country leaders throughout the Omicron COVID peak
  • For the needed teachers for the 2022-23 school year. Pray for the ECA recruiting team as emails go out, interviews are held, and communication is at a high point in the next several months. Pray that God will draw those He wants to join the ECA team. Current needs include:
    • 3 teachers in PK-1st
    • 3 teachers in 2nd-4th
    • English, math, social studies, science, and Bible in secondary
    • Elective teachers
  • For the HS Missions Trips on April 7-13 and the secondary retreats happening during the month of February
  • For Cristian Gastelbondo, father of Valeria (2nd grade) and David (Kinder). On January 10 he had a bike accident in which he fractured his clavicle. Join us in prayer for full recovery after his surgery.
