School Founding & Purpose
El Camino Academy (ECA) was established by North American Christian missionaries seeking an American curriculum, moderate cost, and biblical values for their children. It was formed as a non-profit association (Asociación El Camino Real – El Camino Academy) with the motto “Training for Life” and key scripture Deuteronomy 6:5-7
Early Beginnings & Initial Expansion
Started with 25 students and 3 teachers covering grades 1–7 in a church building in the San Nicolas neighborhood of Bogotá. It later expanded to Kindergarten–12th grade across rented homes in the Pontevedra area, growing to about 75 students.
First Graduation & Property Purchase
Celebrated its first high school graduation with 3 students. To accommodate growth, a lot was purchased on 222nd Street west of the Autopista, where a temporary wooden structure was built using donated materials.
