About us

El Camino Academy is a non-denominational Christian, college-preparatory school in Bogotá committed to shaping students through a deeply integrated biblical worldview and English immersion.

We partner with evangelical families who desire rigorous academics without compromising spiritual formation. At ECA, faith and learning are inseparable. Students are challenged intellectually while being discipled spiritually, preparing them not only for acceptance to university but also for a lifetime of faithful leadership.

Our desire is to form bilingual servant-leaders who will transform their world as they follow Jesus.

Philosophy of education

Education under the authority of Scripture

At El Camino Academy, we believe Scripture is the ultimate authority for faith and life. Our philosophy of education is rooted in historic evangelical Christianity and a commitment to biblical truth.

Faith is not confined to Bible class. It informs how we teach science, literature, history, mathematics, and the arts. Students are trained to evaluate ideas through Scripture.

All faculty annually affirm our Statement of Faith and are committed to Christ-centered instruction and discipleship within and outside of their classrooms.

Spiritual formation and discipleship

Spiritual growth is cultivated intentionally through:

  • Systematic Bible instruction
  • Chapel services centered on Scripture
  • Daily prayer and biblical reflection
  • Mentorship and accountability
  • Service outreach opportunities to promote servant leadership skills

Our aim is not simply moral development, but transformed lives shaped by the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our English immersion model

English is the primary language of instruction at El Camino Academy through a U.S. curriculum that meets the Colombian Ministry of Education requirements. Students learn, think, read, write, and communicate in English.

Our early-exit English immersion model develops

  • Advanced academic vocabulary
  • University-level writing and communication skills
  • Confidence in international academic environments
  • Global readiness and cultural awareness

Student Outcomes: The profile of an ECA graduate

At El Camino Academy, students are viewed as holistic individuals created in God’s image and called to love Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love their neighbor as themselves (Mark 12:30-31). Therefore, it is the school’s goal to empower each student to reach the following outcomes:

Achieve proficiency in foundational knowledge, skills, and competencies in core and noncore subjects as defined in the curriculum

Communicate effectively through listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English and Spanish at a high proficiency level

Develop a Christ-centered identity that promotes healthy interpersonal relationships and active participation in a multicultural community

Pursue a Spirit-empowered personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ, founded on biblical knowledge, which leads to a worldview that impacts life decisions

Actively help and serve others, leading by example with skill, integrity, and competency, while practicing responsible stewardship of God’s creation

Our story

Founded in 1980, El Camino Academy began with a clear vision: to provide Christ-centered education in an English immersion environment for missionary families seeking both academic excellence and spiritual formation.

Over the decades, ECA has grown into a stable and respected institution serving evangelical families in Bogotá. Through curriculum development, faculty training, and strategic planning, the school has remained committed to its founding convictions while adapting to meet the demands of a changing academic landscape.

Today, ECA continues to prepare students to fulfill the purpose God has for them.
