- They called at 7:00 this morning – thank the Lord for a good signal!
- Everyone’s doing well – no one is sick, all are very healthy. The heat and humidity are not overly oppressive, but it’s hard in afternoon. The mosquitos are not too bad – they mostly come out at night.
- Yesterday was a really good day. We had a successful morning and afternoon of children’s ministry. It was more difficult in the afternoon because of the intense sun. At that point they took about 20 kids to the missionary’s home to color pictures. Children’s ministry went really well.
- The medical team also had a good day yesterday – they saw over 100 patients. Everything went smoothly at a nice pace, and they finished at a decent hour.
- We are still in the process of getting to know the people and having them be comfortable with us. The language barrier is still a challenge – definitely pray for that.
- The biggest prayer request is for the Lord to show us how to be effective with not knowing the language, especially with relationships. We have translators for the medical team and the evening services; the challenge is one-on-one.
- In the evening service after part 2 of the Jesus film, Juan Carlos talked about our sins and repentance. He told the story of Zacchaeus. Their home lives are dark and there’s a lot of sexual sin and abuse, so it was a really good message for this population, saying that if they want to leave that old life behind, the Lord’s grace is sufficient!
- We ran out of rainwater last night. We still had drinking water, but we couldn’t take showers. But then it rained quite a bit last night, so the water situation is back to good.
- One fun thing: we were all saying we wanted to see a tarantula. Then Kelli Sickles stumbled upon one in the missionaries’ house. It kind of freaked everyone out because they didn’t know how to get rid of it. Finally it crawled onto a chair and one of the guys took the chair FAR away!
- Church started at 8:00 this morning.
