Amazon 2014 – April 16
Praises:
  • We said goodbye to Jhon after we arrived in Leticia. We praise the Lord for his kindness to us, hosting and guiding us there. The missionaries’ hearts of love for the Ticunas are very apparent, as are the hearts of the other missionaries, Marta and Estela.
  • We had some good team time after dinner last night. We continued our discussion of John the Baptist and sang praise songs, sharing how we saw God at work in us and in the village.
  • We are so grateful for Dency, our cook who accompanied us from YWAM. She cooked all our meals with such a servant’s heart and patience as we helped her in the kitchen. She is probably a major reason why we never got sick! She has gone on previous trips, and she’s wonderful. She’s making something special for us for breakfast this morning. :^)
Requests:
  • Pray for the missionaries in Guanabara. We pray that what we did there was helpful to their ministries, and that looking back, they will remember it as a demonstration of God’s love and truly helpful.
  • Pray that our interactions with the Ticuna church and its leaders encouraged them, and that they will keep speaking in ways to help people know and honor the one true God.
  • Pray for the school director and the impact we had.
  • Pray that our interactions with all of them encouraged them. Sol had some significant prayer times with them.
  • Pray for our time at the orphanage today in Leticia. The medical team will see the 40 kids and will focus on distributing parasite medications to them. The rest of us will play with the kids and teach them the Word. It will be nice to speak in Spanish again!
  • Pray we can relax as we transition back from being in the village. We’re having some team fun time this afternoon, including swimming at a hotel.
  • Pray for us as we continue to process what God has taught us.
After dinner tonight the teens will have free time while the adults have a meeting. The rest of the schedule is the same as what’s on the Amazon Schedule document. They leave for the airport around 8:30 tomorrow morning, so there may or may not be another morning call. They’re due back in Bogota around 2:00.
