Amazon 2016 – March 20

Dear ECA Community, Today (Sunday) was a great day. The team went to church this morning where Juan Carlos preached in Spanish and the pastor translated into Ticuna. After that the team led a mini VBS involving English lessons, games, and crafts with about 50 kids from the village. After lunch they had the chance to go to a local family’s house and see how they work with and process acai berries. While there they saw a little girl who had been sick two years ago and treated by Lucas and Viviana Spicer (Beth Afanador’s daughter and son-in-law). They had recommended that the girl needed to be taken to a hospital at the time. Now she is healthy and doing very well, and she and her family were excited to see the team and to meet Megan Yohe, who is Viviana’s cousin. The rest of the afternoon was spent playing in the river with the kids from the village and taking a canoe ride. Tonight the team will lead worship and an evening church service with the community. Praise the Lord that everyone is healthy and doing well, even though it is quite hot. Please pray for energy for the team as they try to finish the bathroom tomorrow (Monday) and that they can continue to be an encouragement to the missionary family who works in Guanabara III full-time. Querida comunidad ECA: Hoy (domingo) fue un gran día. El equipo estuvo en la iglesia donde Juan Carlos predicó en español y el pastor tradujo a Ticuna. Después el equipo lideró un mini estudio bíblico que incluyó clases de inglés, juegos y manualidades con aproximadamente 50 niños de la comunidad. Después del almuerzo tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar la casa de una familia y ver cómo trabajan y procesan el fruto “acai”. Mientras estuvieron ahí pudieron ver una pequeña niña que estaba enferma hace dos años y que fue atendida por Lucas y Viviana Spicer (la hija de Beth Afanador y su yerno). En esa oportunidad ellos recomendaron que la niña fuera llevada al hospital y ahora ella está sana y bien. Ella y su familia están muy emocionados de ver al equipo y de conocer a Megan Yohe, la prima de Viviana. El resto de la tarde estuvieron jugando en el río con los niños de la comunidad y paseando en canoa. Esta noche (domingo) el equipo liderará el servicio y la alabanza en la iglesia con la comunidad. Alabado sea el Señor que todos están bien y con salud, aún cuando está bien caliente. Les pedimos oración por vitalidad para el equipo para que puedan terminar el baño mañana (lunes) y que puedan continuar siendo un aliento para la familia misionera que trabaja en Guanabara III tiempo completo.
