Guajira 2016 – March 19

Dear ECA Community, The team had a good first night with everyone sleeping in their own hammock. Today’s (Saturday’s) job was to help the school with their storage room. It was full of a mix of things, such as teaching materials, construction and electrical materials, and a files that have been inactive for 20 years. Yolanda Cardozo is working with the school’s Academic Secretary to help him choose the important information and organize it. Mrs. Afanador and Rose Mary Quiñones are in charge of the teaching and construction materials. All of the students worked hard helping carry boxes and organizing the materials in the correct classrooms. Mr. Becker was in charge of the youth group. 40 teenagers came throughout the afternoon and played games and were involved in small groups. There was a Bible lesson and worship and then they ate dinner together. The activities continued until 10 pm! Mr. Becker also continues to lead an excellent devotional with the whole team. The best news is that there aren’t mosquitoes! Also they haven’t suffered from lack of water because the community has implemented a technique to remove salt from the water. There is a small sore throat virus going around, but nothing severe. The team asks for prayer that this virus does not spread and that everyone will continue to be healthy. Tomorrow (Sunday) the group will wake up early for the 6:30 am service. Querida comunidad ECA: El equipo pasó muy bien su primera noche, cada uno durmió en su hamaca. El trabajo de hoy (sábado) era ayudarles con la bodega. Tenían mezcladas muchas cosas como material didáctico, cosas de electricidad y construcción y un archivo inactivo desde hace más de 20 años. Yolanda Cardozo está trabajando con la Secretaria Académica del colegio para ayudarle a seleccionar la información importante y a organizarla. Mrs. Afanador y Rose Mary están encargadas de del material didáctico y de construcción. Todos los muchachos trabajaron arduamente ayudando a sacar cajas y organizando el material en los salones correspondientes. Mr. Becker estuvo a cargo del grupo de jóvenes. Llegaron 40 jóvenes y durante toda la tarde se realizaron juegos, grupos pequeños, hubo prédica, alabanza y cenaron juntos. Las actividades se llevaron a cabo hasta las 10pm. Mr. Becker continúa desarrollando un excelente devocional con todo el grupo. Lo mejor de todo es que no hay zancudos!!! Y no han sufrido por la falta de agua porque la comunidad ha implementado una manera de desalinizar el agua. Hay un pequeño virus de dolor de garganta pero nada grave, les pedimos oración para que este virus no se complique y continúen bien de salud. Mañana (domingo) el grupo madruga al servicio de las 6:30am.
