Guajira 2016 – March 22

Dear ECA Community, On Tuesday we started the day really early. At 6:00a we had breakfast and devotions for the teachers and students. Then at 7:30 we started working in the classrooms, ending at 12:20p. The kids said good-bye with much love and affection, and asked us to come back. They prayed for us and sent us off with a blessing. In the afternoon we went to a nearby village where we had a short time of praise and preaching, and we prayed for them and for the sick among them. We brought them some groceries (donated by the Rangel family), and spent part of the afternoon playing with the children. Later we went to Manaure, where we visited the salt pools where they extract salt, and the plant where they clean and pack it for distribution. We ended the day by going shopping and getting ready to leave at 5:00a the next morning. It was a great day! We are worn out but happy. Wednesday morning on the way to Santa Marta we are visiting El Cerrejón and the Flamingo Park. Our flights for Bogotá leave around 10:00 tonight and arrive in Bogotá between 11:00 and midnight. Querida comunidad ECA: Hoy (martes) empezamos muy temprano el día. A las 6am desayunamos y realizamos el devocional para profesores y estudiantes. Iniciamos trabajo en los salones de clase a las 7:30 y terminamos a las 12:20pm. Los niños nos despidieron mostrándonos un gran amor y nos pidieron que regresemos. Oraron por nosotros y nos mandaron en bendición. En la tarde fuimos a una ranchería cercana donde realizamos un pequeño servicio con alabanza y prédica y oramos por ellos y por los enfermos. Les llevamos un mercado (donado por la familia Rangel) y pasamos parte de la tarde jugando con los niños de la ranchería. Después fuimos a Manaure, allí visitamos los pozos donde se hace la sal y la fábrica donde se limpia y se empaca para luego ser distribuida. Finalizamos el día haciendo unas compras y preparándonos para salir mañana a las 5am. ¡Un gran día, estamos agotados pero felices!! El miércoles de camino a Sta. Marta visitaremos El Cerrejón y el Parque Los Flamencos. Los vuelos hacia Bogotá salen alrededor de la 10pm y llegan a Bogotá entre las 11pm y las 12pm.
