The second rancheria was incomparable to the first. While there is running water, there is no electricity or cell service (the reason this update is late). There is much more need at this rancheria.

The language barrier was the first main obstacle ECA students needed to overcome, which caused difficulty in gaining the children’s trust. In addition to the language barrier, there is much spiritual warfare. A member of the community approached Yoli explaining that there was division between some family members and leaders of the church. Valbu and some other students were able to have conversations with these individuals, and restored the relationships that had been broken for years! Praise God.

Last night, the ECA students were leading a youth service with worship, activities, and Esteban Trujillo sharing his testimony. Only 10 members of the community showed up, but within the hour about 100 people from 4 other communities had come! We had no choice but to continue worshiping (almost everyone on our team led Cambiare mi tristeza, Si tuvieras Fe como un grano de mostaza, Hecho a la mar, Mi Dios es grande, and Cristomicina) but Valbu also gave a message to fill time. It wasn’t until 3 hours later that we realized it was a vigilia! They kept worshipping, but we were thankfully able to head back with Jacqueline’s permission.

Today we are headed to Riohacha, and staying at a church there. Please pray for health and strength as we continue. That we may continue to make an impact through the unity of Christ.
