This morning we visited two Jiw communities. At the first community, we started off by reading The Hungry Caterpillar to a group of kids. Then, we split into three different stations. Andreas and Miguel led a sports station with frisbee games, Zarina, Esteban, and Mr. Server led a math station with dice activities, and Sarah, Mrs. Afanador, Miss Benfield, and Miss Conrad led a Spanish station using children’s books and flash cards. We ended by playing a giant game of Duck Duck Goose, which the kids absolutely loved. Things are off to a great start with this community!

Then, we loaded back into the van, drove down the road a bit, and arrived at the second Jiw community. Unfortunately, most of the community was not there today, so we weren’t able to do as much; however, we were able to play with the kids and work on a matching activity. We were also able to bless both communities with fresh pineapple. We look forward to visiting these communities again tomorrow, especially now that they will be prepared for our coming.

After visiting the second Jiw community, we went to lunch and freshened up at the hotel before heading to our SENA conference. There, we modeled best teaching practices to a group of about 20 teachers from all around Guaviare. Our entire team split up to lead various interactive activities. This event proved to be extremely helpful for these English teachers, as many of them have few opportunities to communicate with fluent English speakers.

Please continue to pray for our team as we return to SENA tomorrow, this time to work with SENA students. Miguel will be sharing his testimony, so please pray that God will open the students’ hearts to respond to Miguel’s story of what God has done in his life! We’re excited for all the Lord has in store for us tomorrow.
