(From Saturday)
We had another wonderful day! In the morning, we went to the local market, tried several local types of fruit, and walked down to a port on the Amazon River. Then we went back to the poor river neighborhood La Aguilera to teach the kids about the Parable of the Seeds. Daniel Seiber fell in the Amazon River but God kept his Bible dry!
After lunch, our team had some well-deserved rest and bonding time. In the afternoon, the teenagers from La Aguilera came to the Jucum/YWAM base to swim in the pool. We presented the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant to them, met with them in small groups, and challenged them to be open to forgiving others. They spent a lot of time writing on pieces of paper who and what they need to forgive, as well as who and what they need to ask forgiveness from/for. They nailed those pieces of paper to a cross as a symbol of giving our burdens to Christ. It was a sweet time.
After dinner, our team went out for ice cream made with local fruits. There was much fun and laughter! Jhon (a missionary contact from previous Amazon trips) joined us as well! Some of the group is now playing soccer with other YWAM missionaries and locals. Tomorrow, we will be taking a boat to the YWAM base in Ronda for 2 days.
Praise God for the kids’ receptive hearts today, and for wonderful friendship strengthening within our group. Our team is small, but with God, we are mighty! Please pray for safety as we head to the jungle, especially in regard to bugs. Thank you for your continued spiritual support! We feel it!
