MAP testing is here.

This last week, 5th – 9th graders tested. Next week, Sep 16-20, 2nd – 4th grade students will be taking their MAP tests.

These tests give baseline scores for math, reading comprehension, and language use, which enable teachers to better help students focus on specific skills to improve. Specific MAP test results are shared at PTCs.

Although there is not a way to study for the test, parents should encourage their children to follow these tips to help them do their best:

  • Get plenty of rest beforehand and eat a good breakfast.
  • Each test is unique to you as an individual.
  • You are not expected to know all the answers.
  • The tests are not timed. Don’t rush, but work productively.
  • Use your best test-taking skills — read carefully, look for clues, eliminate wrong answers.

For more information about the tests, parents can check the MAP Parent Guide in either Spanish or English. Also, TIPS for students is very helpful.

Pruebas Avancemos

The Colombian standardized test Pruebas Avancemos was/will be administered to our 6th and 8th graders on September 4 and October 10 respectively. Students are tested in Spanish and math. Parents will receive results, including a comparison from last year’s scores, by email. Scores are not factored into grades, but are used to help our teachers know what areas to concentrate on as they teach throughout the year.
