The Sierra Nevada team survived the hike today!  Our team did a fantastic job on our long-awaited hike up the mountain. We spent a few minutes this morning organizing our groceries and supplies, in order to help make the process of carrying the things up with donkeys as smooth as possible. Andres and Pastor Juan Carlos were two Kogi men who met us at the town and helped us organize the things too.

After leaving our heavy bags, we took only the necessities (snacks and water) and started our trek up the mountain. We made it in 2 hours and 26 minutes! … less time than we thought. We also enjoyed the beautiful views from different parts of the mountain.

Once here, we have been walking around getting to know the community and hearing about the Kogi lifestyle and school. Our plans have changed a bit unexpectedly, but our mission has not! We are excited to spend time with the Kogi community any way we can, and help paint and decorate the church.

Tonight, we will eat dinner with a few families and get some much needed rest. We will also have a chance to meet as a team and prepare for the new schedule. Please pray for many kids to come spend time with us over the next few days and for opportunities to interact with the adults.

We thank you for your prayers and support! Looking forward to updating you again soon.
