Hello, everyone,

Today was the last day of VBS, and here are quotes of what some of the kids thought:

  • “I learned to have faith even when it seems like God is not responding to our requests.”
  • “I enjoyed that we could explore painting, playing, and chatting together.”
  • “I learned that we should be humble, always trust in God, and forgive others.”
  • “I enjoyed the community we felt with kids that we didn’t know. I could see the intention with each group and how they demonstrated Christ and shared his forgiveness.  I also loved the gift of the New Testament and will always value it as it will be useful for my spiritual health in the decisions that I am going to have to make.”
  • “I enjoyed the Bible School where we learned to share with people we didn’t know and learned many things.”

These past 3 days have been amazing. ECA students showed off their leadership skills and demonstrated their ability to connect with each other and with the kids. Each day followed about the same format, but each day the kids and student leaders became more and more comfortable with each other and able to delve deeper into getting to know each other and share the love of Christ. Today’s focus was the last part of Joseph’s story, about forgiving his brothers, and the verse was Génesis 50:20 – “Es verdad que ustedes pensaron hacerme mal, pero Dios transformó ese mal en bien.” We ended the VBS with a giant Easter egg hunt. The kids were so excited they almost ran off without hearing all the directions!

It has been a blessing on both sides to serve and be served, and I’m eager to see how some of these traits will be evident as we head home and life goes back to normal. This afternoon we played volleyball together, will enjoy some free time and supper, and then have a bonfire with singing and sharing testimonies. This evening will be the last official time with the kids at the Foundation.

Praises:

  • It didn’t rain and interrupt any of our VBS plans!
  • The toys and t-shirts from the supporting classes were a huge blessing and surprise for the kids.
  • Leadership skills are growing and blossoming.

Prayer Requests:

  • That tomorrow would be a good day of relaxation at the beach and in Cartagena, and of reflecting on the trip
  • Travel safety
  • Rest and a good time of togetherness as a team
  • Saying farewell to kids we may never see again
