For parents of rising seniors . . .

If your child has no idea what they want to study, here are a few suggestions:

  • Revisit your results or retake the Career Explorer test (https://www.careerexplorer.com/) to see if it generates ideas.
  • Compare and contrast the Plan de Estudios for programs of interest. Ask yourself, “Do the classes you will be taking fit your strengths and interests?”
  • Explore UniSabana College or Programa Estudios Dirigidos en Los Andes.
  • Take a class or do a workshop in an area of interest.

If your teen knows what they want to study, but is not sure where he/she wants to study, here are some search engines that may help:

If your teen knows what they want to study and where, here are some tasks they can tackle this summer:

  • Visit the universities you are planning to apply to
  • Draft your essays or supplemental questions
  • Do SAT prep (Khan Academy – https://www.khanacademy.org/digital-sat)
  • Create a calendar of deadlines (including applications, test dates, etc.)
