La Guajira 2 Team
Thank you to everyone who’s been reading these messages and praying for us. Today was a really interesting day for us. While we had a bunch of our own plans, the Lord allowed those plans to change.
This morning we unexpectedly had a whole school group come visit us. While we were not prepared to have them, we quickly adapted our plans in order to spend time with these kids. It ended up being such a sweet time as we all visited their school afterwards and watched them perform their cultural dances. The school we visited is about a 5-minute walk from the rancheria, and is run by a whole family. While this family only gets one wage, they faithfully serve and teach a huge group of kids. You can tell they are really passionate and servant-hearted people.
As the afternoon approached, we had two medical situations brought to our attention. One of the village kids ended up getting a very deep cut and needed stitches, and the other kid had a very bad foot infection from a thorn. This was a really sad situation for us as a team to deal with. Life here in the rancheria is very difficult. Kids are very dirty, wear the same clothes every day, and don’t have shoes. When the 3-year-old girl with the foot infection came to us, we cleaned the wound as best as we could. We asked the mom to bring some shoes for the little girl, but sadly the mom had no shoes to fit her. Please pray for these two kids, that they would get the care they need.
As the afternoon continued, we worked alongside the Wayuu team, focusing on our theme of the day, which was explaining to the kids what sin is. We performed a skit of Noah’s ark and created many different stations that the kids could go through. Overall, the afternoon went really well. We are getting better working as a team, so that’s definitely a praise for the day.
Please continue to pray for this community as we continue to see how much there is here. Thank you!!!
