We started off the day at Hogar de Paz in Lijacá and had about 26 students, ages 3-13. The ECA students had a time of worship, a short skit and then did multiple activities with the kids, including Gospel bracelets where they shared the Good News.

We got to go have lunch at Mrs. Jimenez’s church, which was close by, and then we read over 1 John 3, 4 and 5 and reflected on the devotion questions to see if we are truly loving others well, like God loves us.

Next, we headed up the mountain (in El Codito) to La Capilla and served another group of about 28 students at Hogar de Paz. The leader explained beforehand how many of these students come from difficult family backgrounds and some only eat 1-2 meals a day, so they were really grateful for the snacks. Miss Lamb made them some really yummy mini pizzas! They also have many issues with getting fresh water up on the mountain so many of the students kept asking for water.

As we reflected later, as a team, we don’t often realize the needs that are in our own backyard. You don’t have to go far from ECA to be able to serve those in need and we each play a part in being God’s hands and feet to the people in Bogotá.

Pray for us as we get up early tomorrow to head to Altos de Cazucá to serve at Liceo Nueva Vida.
