On our first full day in Duitama, we had the privilege of spending the day with members of a drug rehabilitation program. The students designed and facilitated ice breakers, prepared and served lunch for the whole ensemble, and led the gathering in worship. Our youngest member, 9th grade Nico, followed God’s leading to come out of his comfort zone to share his testimony in front of the whole group. We followed with a time of prayer and sharing testimonies in small groups. It was a powerful joy to experience, hearing stories of deliverance and lifting up brothers and sisters we hadn’t known hours before. We spent the rest of the afternoon playing sports at the park and I think everyone here would agree that we got a beautiful taste of what Christian community should be today. We will finish out the night teaching English through leading a Bible study on God’s attributes. Thank God along with us for His faithfulness in moving as we invite Him in and pray that students would continue loving and sharing boldly.

Verse of reflection for today:

2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
