Today was our last day in Santa Marta before we leave super early Thursday morning for the airport. At the moment, we are on our way to a restaurant for our final team dinner.
Majo Preciado and Vale Aristizabal stepped up to share the gospel during today’s activities. This morning, we went to Barrio Yucal to do activities with the kids in the community; later, we returned to Barrio 11 de Noviembre in the evening. This time was particularly special because we got to see some familiar faces! We also spent time walking the streets inviting new people to come to our meeting. We met tons of kids and almost all of them came to the tiny street where we were holding the activities.
One special moment was when one of our groups encountered a woman and her autistic son. We learned that she had recently been robbed and didn’t have a job, so she was struggling to care for her son. Her only business was making necklaces, so we took the opportunity to buy all of the necklaces she had for sale and give them as gifts to the women in the community. We prayed for her as well. She had been worried that her son wouldn’t behave well at our event because of his special needs, but our students assured her that they would take care of him. They did, and he had a great time, especially on the giant trampoline that the Seed of Wheat foundation rented and brought into the neighborhood. The woman was so overwhelmed with gratitude that she kept thanking us over and over again, and at the end, she told us that her son didn’t want to leave because he had so much fun. This was a sweet way to end our service in Santa Marta.
I’m sure we will all have memories of this trip for the rest of our lives! Please keep praying for the Seed of Wheat foundation as they continue their work in Santa Marta, that God would bless and multiply their ministry opportunities. Thank you for your prayers!
