The Student Advocate elections were held at ECA on August 18, after a 2-week campaign during which 2nd- to 12th-grade students listened to the two candidates’ proposals. They had the opportunity to exercise their right to vote for the 2023-24 personero term.

The Colombian Program Coordinator, together with the Spanish team and 12th grade students, was in charge of carrying out the activities related to the elections, simulating regular Colombian elections. Voting stations with their respective ballot boxes and cubicles were prepared to ensure that each ballot remained confidential. Voting lists and voter certificates were created to enable voters to exercise their right to vote.

Everything proceeded in complete order and from 7:40a to 1:50p students from all classes had the opportunity to go to their respective polling stations to vote. Ballot counting was carried out with scrutiny by designated witnesses from 2:00 to 2:30. The results were then announced at 2:50. Congratulations to Samuel Reyes as the winner. As ECA’s new Student Advocate, he must now start to work on his proposals.
