On this trip, we are ministering to two very different groups of people:  SENA students and professors, and the Jiw. This morning, we arrived at SENA at 8:00am, where we led an English workshop for 3 hours. About 60 SENA students, who were generally college-aged, joined us in doing large group games like “Simon Says” and “Fruit Basket Upset”; afterward, they divided into six groups, which allowed them to participate in six different stations led by us. At those stations, they had the chance to play games like Uno and charades, which allowed them both to have fun and to learn a lot of new vocabulary. The event was very well-received; in fact, the SENA students’ teachers participated with them, and after the workshop, they expressed gratitude not only for giving them ideas for instruction, but for demonstrating that some of the fun ways of teaching English that work for young children can work just as well with young adults. Best of all, some of our students were able to share their testimonies, and some who attended the workshop seemed to really ponder what our students had said.

In the afternoon, we returned to the Jiw communities. The visits were fairly short, but we had a great time teaching some basics of Spanish and playing games with them like volleyball and Marco Polo—as much as the kids yelled “Polo” at Miguel, he may forever have the nickname “Polo” with them.

As I write this, most of us are preparing Sunday School lessons for tomorrow, but Rafa has been given the unique opportunity to show a movie in one of the Jiw communities that presents the Gospel—in Jiw!

We look forward to returning to the Jiw communities on Monday, and we thank you all for your prayers. God bless!
