Amazon Mission Trip | June 2020
Our goal with the mission is to support the established long-term missionaries living and working there. We will be supporting local missionaries living in missionary bases with indigenous and local foundations in Leticia. We will be plugging into on-going projects with the missionaries on the ground.

About The Amazon
The Colombian Amazon is one of the most revered and bio diverse areas on the planet. There is no better place for wildlife, adventure and awe.
- The Amazon is one of the thirty-two departments that form the Republic of Colombia . Its capital is Leticia . It is located at the southern end of the country.
- The Colombian Amazon is a place where 212 species of mammals, 195 reptiles, 674 birds, 28 indigenous reservation and more than 20,000 types of plants live.
- The Tikuna and Cocama tribes are two of the 28 tribes that exist in the Amazon.
The problems of the community






About Ronda Community
The Community of Ronda belongs to the Cocama Tribe.
Young people from the Tikuna tribe arrive at the base of the JUCUM mission.
- The Cocama tribe live near Leticia in San José del Río and Isla the Ronda, in Puerto Nariño.
- 80 families belong to the Cocama community, approximately 350 people.
- The elders of the community speak Kokama-Kokamilya language and the young people speak Spanish.
- They share the territory with the Tikuna and the Yagua people.
- At the base of the JUCUM “El Puente” mission, between 60 and 120 children and young people come.

About Águila Neighborhood
The Águila neighborhood is in Leticia (Capital the Amazonas Department).
- Leticia is a city in which several characteristics of the Amazon, which make it a unique case of the city.
- Have influence of three countries (Colombia, Brazil, Peru) too strong, both economically as socially.
- The city is on a level not very advanced development.

About La Aljaba Foundation
It is a foundation with 80 children.
- They work with children in extreme poverty between the ages of 4 to 8 years.
- The foundation started with 15 internal children, nowadays it works with 80 to 85 children; of which 40 are internal.
- Their vision is: to inspire the Amazonian community with boys and girls formed with love in Christian principles and values to achieve realized generations.
- Their mission is: Rescue children in situations of poverty and need, contributing to their healthy development and integral growth by sowing the word of God in their hearts.
