Amazon 2014 – April 17
Praises:
  • Yesterday we went to the orphanage where the medical team saw 49 patients. The children there hadn’t had a checkup since February of last year, but they had been given parasite meds just a month ago, so that was not their main focus.
  • The rest of the team shared a few Bible stories, then just played and interacted with the kids.
  • We got to learn more about the ministry at the foundation. Besides the kids that live there, other at-risk kids in the area also receive special care in various day ministries. Pray for Doña Luci, the leader.
  • We had some nice relaxed time in the afternoon, including swimming, shopping, and exploring Leticia, which was helpful for our transition back to normal life. There was a tour of Tabatinga scheduled, but none of the Americans made it there, just the Colombians who had to get their passports stamped.
  • Last night the adults had a meeting to debrief, and we shared challenges from this first trip to Guanabara as well as what went well. It was an opportunity to remember God’s faithfulness throughout.
  • Everyone has stayed in excellent health throughout! The only inconvenience was bug bites. We are so grateful.
Requests:
  • Pray for safe travels back to Bogota today, and to the U.S. and Canada by the end of the week.
  • Pray for each of us to continue processing what God has done and taught us, and for the transition back to normal life.
  • Pray for direction for the leadership, that God would guide their thinking about decisions for future trips. We learned a lot from going to a new village this time.
