La Guajira support team, What a day tremendous two days it has been! The only thing on our agenda yesterday was to paint the temple and it is finished. When we spoke with Reyes to double check the color pattern she said, “You know, let it be your design; you be the artists.” It was a moment where we felt trusted as the body of Christ. The 9th graders were with us for majority of the day painting, sweeping, removing windows, singing and laughing as we cleaned up the temple, but had surprisingly different plans for the afternoon. One of the teachers told us that students had a writing session in which they were to reflect on their time with us. Afterwards, they shared in a circle with Reyes and other leaders right before dinner. When I asked Grace (one of the gentle, yet fierce leaders here) how the conversation went, she shared, “You guys truly don’t know what a blessing you are in the lives of these students. They shared how even your mannerisms have impacted them… the fact that you call each other by name and are so inclusive really shows how different you are, but is also a good reminder that they are not much older than the ECA students and that having a relationship with Christ at this age is attainable.” We drove to El Cabo this morning and needed to wake up at 4:30am (hence the delay in this message). Sunblock became our best friend to prevent any unnecessary aloe rubs. This is the first time the 9th graders have gone on an outing as a group! Tomorrow is the last day with these students and we can sense the sadness that will evolve. Please pray for opportunities to share stories and maybe even questions that students struggle with when considering Christ. Pray for wisdom for ECA students and that they obey when God provides the opportunity. He is so good to us. He will always be.
